Housing
A safe and affordable place to live is critical. Because most students do not have a home to return to in the summer, 12-month housing is very important. Housing is a challenge at most schools in the absence of available dormitory-type settings. SBCC has partnered with local housing assistance programs to supply housing to Guardian Scholars in the following locations:
- Artisan Court (pictured above): Application
My Home at Artisan Court provides a place where former foster youth ages 18-21 can find a home and build a path to independence. This supportive transitional housing program is the result of collaboration among Youth and Family Services YMCA, the Housing Authority of the City of Santa Barbara and County Child Welfare Services. At My Home, young people who were facing homelessness are not simply housed; they receive the support they need to mature into self-sufficient adults. Our on-site staff and volunteers provide case management, education advocacy and preparation, work readiness training, life skills classes, and counseling.
